Chiropractic care for kids is safe. The adjustments that are made are created specifically for children in mind. There is no danger involved in this kind of care and is a great alternative to over-the-counter medications that may cause side effects, such as drowsiness or excitability. Chiropractic Care for Kids

This kind of care is also highly effective in children. Recent surveys show that children who saw a chiropractor for muscle pain showed that 62% of them felt relief from their problems. With well over half of children experiencing a reduction in pain, whether it is from sports injuries or from other problems, it is obvious that chiropractic care has a positive impact on their health. In addition, relieving chronic pain can also prevent emotional problems that may come with it, such as anxiety and depression.

Chiropractic care for kids isn’t just for when they have suffered an injury, however. It is also highly effective for wellness care. This kind of care prevents body pain and can reduce stress. Today’s children suffer from stress that is brought on by worries at home, peer pressure at school, and the pressure to perform academically as well. Reducing stress can lower heart rate and blood pressure as well, helping children to relax and feel better. These treatments lead to an improvement in overall health. Chiropractic care for kids has helped millions of children all over the country live a healthy life, and if you think that it can help your child’s quality of life improve as well, you should discuss chiropractic options with one of your local chiropractors.

There are literally thousands of supplements, medicines, and devices on the market that claim to be the pinnacle of healthiness, but how can you know what is actually good for you and what is full of chemicals and other less than desirable materials? For starters, it is always advisable to use natural substances—too many man-made materials contain chemicals that have nasty side effects. Fortunately, coconut oil is a natural substance that truly offers an impressive set of health benefits. From combating tooth decay to heart disease prevention, coconut oil is remarkable.

How does coconut oil promote heart healthiness? Some people find this a little hard to believe since it is oil, which we have heard is bad for the heart. Well, this substance is comprised of about fifty percent lauric acid, which is actually fairly rare in nature. Lauric acid helps prevent high cholesterol and high blood pressure, and the body can also use it in fighting measles, the flu, and even herpes. Another health benefit users can receive from this natural substance is proper thyroid function.  Moreover, this particular oil supports the metabolism as it is a fantastic fuel for the body.

Yet another advantage of coconut oil is that it strengthens your body’s immune system.  As mentioned previously, the body takes the lauric acid in this oil and converts into a substance known as monolaurin, which is helpful in dealing with bacteria, viruses, fungi, and yeast.  In addition, other substances that aid the immune system found in coconut oil include antimicrobial lipids, caprylic acid, and capric acid, meaning that it is effective on most types of infections and injuries.  In fact, when applied to bruises, this amazing oil shortens the healing process by actually repairing damaged tissues.

Finally, coconut oil has long been renowned for its wonderful effects on the skin and hair. It keeps the skin looking healthy and youthful as it is an especially good moisturizer.  It works with dryness, flaking, and redness without the adverse consequences that can occur with mineral oil.  For those concerned with appearance, it delays the wrinkles and sagging skin associated with aging as well. When one learns about coconut oil and the health benefits it offers, it can be truly astounding.  In fact, even with all the advantages mentioned here, it is truly only scratching the surface—there are even more benefits!

How Taking Probiotics Can Help Lower High Cholesterol

How Taking Probiotics Can Help Lower High CholesterolCholesterol is a major concern across the developed world. In the United States about 40 million Americans suffer from high cholesterol. Apart from the general health deterioration that cholesterol triggers, it is extremely undesirable for cardiovascular health. People with high cholesterol are at a heightened risk of suffering cardiac arrests and other health problems.

In several studies conducted in the US, Spain and other countries, probiotics have shown remarkable efficacy in lowering high cholesterol. Probiotics are healthy bacteria which are found in the human intestines that are crucial for the immune system and several other functions. Since there is a limit to the quantum of healthy live probiotics that can be found in the guts, it is advisable to take foods or supplements that are good sources of probiotics.

Now, the primary question is how probiotics can help lower high cholesterol. It has to be noted that cholesterol in itself is not bad for health. There is good cholesterol and bad cholesterol. Cholesterol is necessary for several bodily functions including hormonal secretions and generation of vitamin D. It is only when cholesterol doesn’t get metabolized and absorbed by the body in various forms that high cholesterol develops. In such cases, the cholesterol remains in the blood without being used up or absorbed by the body. The presence of high cholesterol in the blood can lead to artery blockage, inflammation at various junctures and eventually leads to high blood pressure, stress, anxiety, obesity, higher blood sugar levels and also cardiac problems.

Probiotics, when consumed on a regular basis, can metabolize this cholesterol in the blood. It allows the body to use up the cholesterol and then absorb the nutrients which are necessary for the body. Experts have commended the findings since high cholesterol drugs eliminate cholesterol in its entirety which is not desirable. The absence of cholesterol in the body would invariably lead to poor health. Probiotics simply work on the level of high cholesterol, prevent building up of bad cholesterol and reduces existing levels of high cholesterol.

The numerous studies conducted across the world include Mari Fuentes and her team’s research at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, Moncloa Hospital and Torrelodones University Hospital, all in Spain, the Metabolic Research Group, VA Medical Center, University of Kentucky, Lexington and medical studies at the Shinshu University in Japan. Similar findings have been published in European Journal of Clinical Nutrition and by J. Martoni, Ph.D. and Satya Prakash, Ph.D. in American Heart Association’s Scientific Sessions 2012.

Why Improving your Posture is Important

Why Improving your Posture is ImportantWhen you are a little kid, adults will always tell you to stand up straight. How many times have you ever been told to straighten up so you’ll have good posture? The adults that kept talking about good posture really knew what they were talking about. Good posture is a key to good health, so it is important that people understand the benefits of good posture, and how chiropractic care can help someone get good posture.

Here are the benefits of good posture and the benefits of chiropractic care

Proper breathing: Did you know that when you have good posture you breathe better? Keeping your spine straight gives the lungs plenty of room to work better, which allows you to inhale and exhale better.

Appearance: When a person has good posture and sits up straight, they appear more self-confident and strong. When people slouch they give off a weak appearance, and this vulnerability can give a wrong impression about a person.

Keeps you healthy: A person that has good posture will not have back problems, slipped disks, pain, or poor circulation. Preventing future health problems really makes you think about sitting up straight doesn’t it? Imagine getting older with no pain killers? Imagine feeling and looking better? Having good posture is the key to having a healthy life. One of the best ways a person can get a good posture is to seek a good chiropractor. Wondering if chiropractic care is right for you?

Here are some benefits of making an appointment to a chiropractor

Say goodbye to colds: Did you know that studies have shown that people who see a chiropractor on a regular basis have a stronger immune system? A person with a strong immune system does not get sick very often.

Flexibility and range of motion: Want to keep your body limber? If you have an injury, a chiropractor can design an exercise routine that will help get you back on your feet and make your body stronger.

No pain killers: A chiropractor can help you manage pain, so there is no more need to have to be constantly having to take pain killers. Imagine living live without pain or the side effects from drugs?

A person that has good posture will be able to live a healthy life. If you do not have good posture, the best person to help with that is a chiropractor. Chiropractic care can be very beneficial to someone; a chiropractor will not only help a person get good posture, but will help that person live pain-free and healthier.

My back pain is completely gone

I was suffering from back pain before I came across the website of Abbey Chiro, the website promised a lot and I was not disappointed!

What I liked most about the treatment I received was the care factor, it was also efficient and very effective. I also got very comprehensive answers to the questions I had.

As a result of the treatment I now have an increase in energy, freedom of movement and no pain.

I had previous experience of chiropractic before I came to the clinic, and I would always recommend it, especially Abbey Chiro.

I would also like to say it’s great to be taken on time at each visit. I am glad I come here!

A chiropractor can help with your pregnancy related pain

A chiropractor can help with your pregnancy related painDealing with the pain and burden of having a child is one of the most daunting tasks a woman will face in her life: carrying the weight of the child wreaks havoc on a woman’s posture, and can create painful and uncomfortable pressure on joints, in some cases leading to excruciating pinched nerves and pressure on the spinal cord. Managing such weight then is of paramount importance for the woman in question and her spouse: if she’s in better health, there’s a greater chance the childbirth will come with no complications, and that post-partum she’ll be of better spirit.

One of the ways you can manage and, in some cases, eliminate this pain is by visiting a chiropractor. One might think, at first, it a bit odd to see a chiropractor in such a case; though, the more thought you put into it, the more sense it makes. Chiropractors perform their magic by realigning joints, and using precisely metered pressure with surgical precision. By using their chiropractic skills, they’ll be able to eliminate the possibility of pinched nerves and compressed spinal column.

There will, though, be some pain that the chiropractor can’t eliminate. This will be a result of the simple fact that a weight is being carried low on the body, and with mostly the hips bearing the load. Your chiropractor can, however, help manage this weight, and reduce your hip pain. Weekly visits will keep inflammation and compression down on the hips and pelvis, and help a woman with child maintain her mobility to a much higher degree than going it alone. The dreaded back pain will also be kept at bay: you can deal with nearly every pregnancy related pain through chiropractic medicine.

With or without chiropractic help, a woman’s body undergoes intense stress when placed in the situation of childbirth. Though, if you choose to use a chiropractic approach to manage your pregnancy pain, you’ll be in a much better situation to deal with the stress and strain of pregnancy, and the aftermath. The use of chiropractic care during pregnancy has been well documented by the American Pregnancy Association as well as other pregnancy associations around the world. This is based simply on the fact that chiropractic medicine – sharp, intense jabs of pressure applied with surgical precision – works, and works very well when dealing with the forces at work when a woman becomes pregnant. Most health insurance plans will actually cover chiropractic visits, and you’ll be in a much better situation to come out of pregnancy and deal with the post-partum emotions physically, and mentally.

Maintaining your Health in Winter

With the change in season comes the return of a cool in the air, and the end of those long summer evenings; the shorter days and wintry conditions can have a big impact on both our emotional and physical wellness. Follow our top tips to keep you happy, balanced and inspired throughout the freezing season!

Get some sleep
With the long winter nights it’s the perfect time to catch up on your rest. Few of us get the recommended 7-9 hours of rest at night time. Maximize the darker, shorter evenings and get an early night time. Sleep can have a unique effect on your feelings and ability to carry out your daily responsibilities, as well as being vital for wellness.

Eat food that gives you extra heat
Wrapping up in the winter months is one way to keep your body warm, certain food items can also help by heating system us up from the inside. We are naturally drawn to warming soups and hot beverages when it’s freezing outside, some food items even encourage heat production more than others. Strong ingredients – like hot cinnamon, hot chili, garlic, pepper and beans – can aid circulation and generate extra heat. Coughs and colds are common during this period so ensure you keep your immune system optimised by eating plenty of green veggies and fruits packed with vitamin C like oranges, grapefruit, strawberries, tomatoes and beans etc.

The great outdoors
It’s simple to hibernate inside during wintertime, but getting outside every day is important for wellness as your body needs sunshine to create vitamin D – essential for healthy teeth and bones. Even when the sun is not shining your body can still produce this from sunlight on your skin; getting out for a short walk everyday will keep your vitamin D levels up.

Protection from the elements
Winter conditions combined with central heating can leave your skin feeling seriously dry and dull; never forget your skin just because it’s simple to hide away under your winter cloths. Deal with dry flaky skin by first exfoliation away the dead skin and then applying a rich moisturizer. Although it might seem unusual to be thinking about sun damage when it’s so freezing outside, UV light can still pierce the skin so use a moisturizer with a built-in SPF to protect your skin and keep lines at bay.

Keep been active
Just because it’s freezing outside does not mean you should depart your exercise routine – wrap up for a nice walk or try fun winter activities like ice skating etc, the cold weather means your body will use-up more calories in an effort to keep heated. If going outside when it’s blustery, wet or raining really does not appeal never let the elements set you back, try some indoor activities, try a workout DVD or using a gaming system (Wii, Xbox etc) to get fit at home.

I got a back check form the chiropractor, but I got so much more

Receiving Chiropractic care has really made a difference for me, it’s really good to be aware of the wellness/health of your back.

I used to wonder if it was right to come in for a “back check” since I was feeling a bit sore around my lower back.

I’m glad I did.

With the kind of work I do, I think chiropractic care is very helpful. My chiropractor was brilliant and she was really good at what she did. She helped me a lot and gave me an insight into how to further take care of my back.

To anyone who is looking at receiving chiropractic care, I would say give it a go and you will be happy you did. The wellness of our back is very important and it is our back that supports of daily activities in life. Especially if you’re feeling uneasy/sore, then chiropractic treatment will give you a lot of goodness.

What pleased me most about the care I received in Abbey Chiro is that I did the right thing and looked after my spine. I am more aware and will do better with respect to my posture. I appreciate the stretches my doctor taught me to relieve muscle stiffness around my back.

I really appreciate your understanding and care!

M.C.
